Preparation for Selenokhod's bucket creation

We made substantial progress in Selenokhod testing mockup creation. Recently we made matrix for Selenokhod's bucket. It is made from medium-density fibreboard (MDF), which is cheaper than aluminium, and easier to work with. Matrix was milled, than polished - that process took about 11 hours, but we spent much more time for our preparations. This bucket is our first "working" rover detail made from carbon fiber, so we must be wery cautious. Every single mistake could potentially affect other details, so we have to check everything to be absolutely shure we did all rigt.

Selenokhod became participant of Space cluster of Skolkovo innovation center

Selenokhod Google Lunar X Prize team became participant of Space cluster of Skolkovo innovation center today. That is great for our project!

Skolkovo innovation center is the most famous Russian science park, currently under construction, but already active. It is supposed to create friendly environment for young technological companies, such as Selenokhod.

It's impossible to decode telemetry data from "Phobos-grunt" probe

They say, it is impossible to decode telemetry received from "Phobos-grunt" probe this morning. It is unclear, though, do station send corrupt data, or russian and european equipment (signal was captured in Australia by ESA) are just incompatible. Tonight there should be new attempts to receive readable data from the spacecraft.

Tracking station at Perth received signal from Phobos-Grunt probe

It is reported, that tracking station at Australian city Perth once again tried to made contact with Russia's Phobos-Grunt probe - and received signal from it! The contact with the martian spacecraft  was lost shortly after launch on 8 November. At first Phobos-Grunt reported that it was OK, but after that it tried to change it's orbit - and failed to do that. It's antennas was not built to make connection at such a low orbit, and to date all other attempts to establish connection was not successfull.

Carbon fiber Selenokhod mockup

It is well-known, that it is extremely expensive to deliver something in space. That's why we in Selenokhod have to use lightweight materials, and carbon fiber perfectly suites our needs. And yes, it is easy to work with!

That's why our engineers lead by Alexander Shaenko carried out a series of experiments with carbon fiber last days. You can see a photo of our future Selenokhod mockup's part (namely it is a bit shortened ski).
